About the Premier of The Chicago Conspiracy in Chile
September 13th, 2009 by j
Subversive Action Films presented the pre-premier of The Chicago Conspiracy in Chile on September 1. We are pleased to announce that the pre-premier in Cine Arte Normandie was a success. The theatre was filled with approximately 750 people, greatly surpassing the capacity of the space. The activity also included the performance of music groups: Kaskivano, Rocío Peña, Daniel Gómez, Subverso, Salvaje Decibel, y Melómanos Rap.
Later on September 3, the collective brought the documentary to the emblematic población La Victoria. The Chicago Conspiracy was shown on the street 30 de Octubre, named for the date of the land occupation that created La Victoria in 1957. The premier was a great success. Residents of the población showed significant support for the production, above all the presentation of La Victoria in the documentary.
With great expectations on September 4, Subversive Action Films arrived at the población Villa Francia, the neighborhood where young militants of the MIR Eduardo and Rafael Vergara were gunned down by police in 1985. The activity consisted of the documentary showing and diverse music groups.
The collective will continue to show the movie in social centers and universities throughout Chile. Review the website for future dates.

The second contribution, La Conspiración de Chicago, shares its title with our film. The song is by our friends from la Victoria, Melómanos Rap. Members of the hip hop group were interviewed in the documentary.

The Chicago Conspiracy: Day of the Youth Combatant
March 28th, 2009 by j
Subversive Action Films presents a short production about the Day of the Youth Combatant in Chile, in anticipation of their upcoming feature-length documentary, The Chicago Conspiracy.
The Day of the Youth Combatant began as protests commemorating the politically motivated assassinations of Rafael and Eduardo Vergara Toledo on March 29, 1985. The brothers were militants of the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR), during a period of military dictatorship under Augusto Pinochet. Their older brother and fellow-militant of the MIR, Pablo Vergara, was later blown up in 1987.
Family and community members began holding annual protests on the anniversary of the murder, a day now known as the Day of the Youth Combatant.
Years after the murder of their children, Manuel Vergara and Luisa Toledo continue to be spokespeople for the revolutionary movements in Chile.
Youth across Chile continue to mark the Day of the Youth Combatant, not only in memory of the Vergara brothers, but also for all combatants murdered under the military dictatorship and current democratic regime. The long list of fallen combatants under democracy includes militants such as Claudia López, Daniel Menco, and Johnny Cariqueo.
This short production includes protest scenes in Chile, a speech by Luisa Toledo, and an interview with Manuel Vergara and Luisa Toledo, parents of the assassinated Vergara brothers.
With music by CoN$PiRaZioN.
